Introduction:
The Manaslu Circuit is a unique and stunning trek - the
only to start in Kathmandu and finish in Pokhara - is considered
to be one of the most challenging and diverse in Nepal.
Ideal for the adventurous trekker who wants to tackle a
classic Himalayan alpine pass and experience the thrill
of rarely glimpsed mountain views whilst learning about
the people of this magnificent land.
Opened in 1992, the region offers unsurpassed cultural insights,
natural beauty and biological diversity. Beginning in the
ancient Royal capital of Gorkha we ascend the stunning Budhi
Gandaki valley to within 15km of the Tibetan border and
the head of the water shed. At Samagoan we visit the superb
glacial green lake of Birendra, and then on to Samdo, a
mystical place where Tibetan monks chant in sacred monasteries
beneath the mighty Himalaya. Suitably spiritually uplifted
we then head up to the Larkya La (pass) where we gain a
magnificent view of the towering peaks that surround us.
 |
We then drop down
to the Dudh Khola (a tributary of the Marsyangdi valley)
which joins the Annapurna Circuit, along a lush trail
crowded by ferns, bamboo, pine trees, waterfalls and
aqua-blue green lakes fringed with cotton-white beaches.
But soon leave this region and head over to the famous
picnic spot of Begnas Tal and our destination of Pokhara,
a scenic town beneath the Annapurnas and Fishtail
- the Matterhorn of Nepal. This trek is arguably the
best that Nepal can offer and will leave you with
a profound sense of peace and respect for the people
of Nepal, their cultures, natural wonders, and above
all the mighty Himalaya. |
