Overview:
Go where few have been before - beyond the fifth Gokyo Lake.
Moderate trekking and a bit on the wild side!
Introduction:
The Gokyo valley runs parallel to the main Everest Base
Camp trekking route. Far less visited than Base Camp, Gokyo
offers you fantastic views of Everest and the opportunity
to explore glaciers and mountains that rarely see trekkers.
Access to the valley is through pine and birch forest where
you may spot Musk Deer and the Himalayan Pheasant. Then
we take it easy ascending the valley as we gain altitude.
Gokyo is famous for its five lakes and the great views of
Everest from Gokyo RI, but we will also take the time to
explore the remote region at the head of the valley and
camp by the dramatic sixth lake. This is a fantastic trek
for those wanting to avoid the crowds of Base Camp and really
appreciate the vastness of the high Himalaya.
